Cameras on Cricklewood
Cricklewood, nestled between Hendon, Hampstead and Kilburn, has become a north London hotspot over the past decade. Popular with families thanks to its abundance of large late Victorian and Edwardian townhouses and proximity to good schools, the neighbourhood was also the filming location for the 2017 independent film Disobedience.
Based on Naomi Alderman’s novel, the film tells the tale of Ronit, who returns to her Orthodox Jewish community, which shunned her following a relationship with a female childhood friend. Ronit, played by Rachel Weisz, rekindles a romance with her friend, despite being married to her cousin.
The film was shot around a five-bedroom, three-bathroom home with 65ft garden on Heber Road. Now, the house, which is less than half a mile from Willesden Green tube, is for sale through Dexters for £1,600,000.
The Edwardian semi-detached house would make an inviting family home. Its grand entrance hall leads to a spacious sitting room with original period features including a red-tiled fireplace, painted wood panelling and a stained-glass bay window. The dining room has parquet wooden floors, an original tile-lined fireplace and a wall of stainedglass panels overlooking the conservatory area. Two skylights make it extra bright. The adjoining kitchen features grey tiled floors, marble countertops and integrated appliances. It looks on to the garden, which has a private balcony deck, wooden pergola and extensive lawns. There are two garden rooms which could function as WFH offices.
Upstairs, there are four double bedrooms and a large family bathroom and, on the top floor, the primary suite has access to under-eaves storage as well as its own en-suite bathroom.
Neela Patel, manager of Dexters Cricklewood, says: “With beautiful bay and stained glass windows, it’s easy to understand why this house was chosen as a film location. It has an abundance of natural light.”
