Brighton hub to open before Rosh Hashanah
BRIGHTON’S AMBITIOUS Jewish community hub, BNJC, is set to open before Rosh Hashanah, CEO Marc Sugarman revealed on Sunday.
At a meeting attended by over 100 community members, Mr Sugarman said the timing would allow project partner, Brighton and Hove Hebrew Congregation, to use its new synagogue for the High Holy Days.
Those buying homes on the site could also move in and plans were progressing “for our exciting community facilities, including the kosher restaurant and co-working space, to be open at the start of 2023, or even in time for Chanukah”.
BNJC launches a new chapter in Brighton Jewry’s 250-year history.
Its leaders have committed to helping young families relocate to the city and Mr Sugarman spoke of plans for a rental scheme for the development’s 45 homes.
“Brighton is a city for young people — so vibrant, cosmopolitan and creative. What I really hope to do is get the message out there to young Jewish couples throughout the UK that with the apartments we’re building on-site, our new Jewish hub and the financial support available, this city is a great place to call home.
“For a young family, this project represents an adventure. Amazing facilities a stone’s throw from the beach and less than an hour to London. Come, be a part of our journey and help shape our community.”
A show home would be available for viewing in early April.
Those at the meeting also enjoyed refreshments from Hendon Bagel Bakery and musical contributions from Israeli singer Yoav Oved and pianist Harry Style.
