Hendon chew up Chigwell to keep treble hopes alive

HENDON UNITED kept alive their hopes of a Maccabi GB Southern Football League and Cup treble as they booked their place into the quarterfin­als of the Peter Morrison Trophy. Goals from Akiva Solomon and Rocky Spitzer saw the Premier Division leaders to a 2-1 win over Club de Chigwell.

NWL Azzurri are also through to the last eight after a 5-1 win at Faithfold White as Danny Miracco, Ollie Miracco, Aron Gale, Zak Jackson and Solly Bradley all hit the target.

Joining them are Manchester Maccabi, who thrashed Geez Park Rangers 7-1, and the MSFL Vets team, who beat Stoke Salmon 2-0.

In the Premier Division, HMH closed to within eight points of leaders Hendon as they beat Maccabi London FC 4-1 thanks to an Adam Abadi brace, as well as singles from Alex Moss and Clark Norton.

And in Division One, a hat-trick from Ariel Rahamim helped Hampstead Ducks to a dominant 8-1 win at Straw Hat Pirates, Jono Gaon and Josh Bloom both scoring two each, with Daniel Hardoon also on target. Goals from Danny Sherman, Allon Hershkorn and Conor Bland saw Temple Fortune A beat Mill Hill Dons 3-2.

London Athletico moved jointtop of Division Two as four goals from Zacki Doumou, two from Jake Downes and a Jason Burns strike saw them give Qarabagel a 7-0 tonking.

Boca Chillers kept up their promotion hopes with a 4-1 win at Temple Fortune B, James Belchak scoring a hat-trick, with Jack Davis scoring their fourth. Real Madreidel are two points behind them following their 3-2 win at Oakwood Town, while Redbridge Jewish Care White claimed a 2-0 home win against Camden City.

Elsewhere, London Lions sit five points off the top of Division One in the Cherry Red Records Combined Counties League following a 2-0 victory at Wallingfor­d Town. Goals from Austin Lipman and Oscar Wagner secured the win, while they also have a game in hand on leaders Hilltop.

Maccabi London Lions were crowned Maccabi Masters League champions after they fought out a 2-2 draw with nearest challenger­s Maccabi London Brady.

Gideon Barnett’s double put the Lions on course for the win and though an own goal and Laurence Beck’s equaliser saw the game end in stalemate, Lions had the point they needed to clinch the title.

Elsewhere, two goals from Graham

Meyer and a James Ryan strike helped Temple Fortune ease to a 3-0 win over Hendon Harriers, and in Group 1 of the League Cup, Marshside debutant David Margo scored twice in a 3-3 draw with Glenthorne.

In the Manchester Jewish Soccer League, Leeds Maccabi booked their place in the final of the Tony Cohen Cup after defeating Jewventus 4-1 on penalties. The sides played out a 2-2 draw, Jayden Huglin and Tim Zoltie scoring for Maccabi, with Yosef Fletcher and Jonah Jayson replying for Jewventus. Maccabi will face Haroldeans in the final.
