-

DURHAM technology company Plexus Innovation has been snapped up by Hertfordshirebased business HSL Compliance for an undisclosed sum.

Plexus Innovation uses Internet of Things (IoT) technology to develop remote monitoring solutions, such as Guardian, an automated alert system for care homes and social housing providers which focuses on environmental data, including temperature.

The company – which has secured two rounds of funding totalling £880,000 since 2020 to ramp up product development – has now been acquired by RossOn-Wye based HSL Compliance, as part of moves to boost its water safety services.

As well as water safety, including legionella compliance and water treatment, HSL supports its clients with other building safety requirements including fire safety, hazardous materials safety and other environmental health and safety services.

Steve Todd, co-founder and managing director of Plexus Innovation, said: “Its brilliant to be joining forces with the team at HSL Compliance. The combination of our technology with the requirements of HSL’s customers, will accelerate our growth.”

Gavin Hartley, chief executive of HSL Compliance, said: “Steve and the team have developed a market-leading remote monitoring solution that will help us to stay at the forefront of technological innovation within the water safety industry.

“With Plexus Innovation in the HSL family, we can continue to offer the best solutions to our clients.”

The transaction is HSL Compliance’s fourth acquisition in 18 months, after it acquired Jordan Environmental, DMA Canyon and Chemical Treatment Services.
