Explosively educational

Engaging new show puts the fun back into teaching children all about scientists, engineers, and inventors

- JANET TANSLEY

SCIENCE is set to save the world – and entertain it – as the nation’s favourite ‘boffins’ get back on the road.

Milkshake! presenter Olivia Birchenough and family entertainer Mike Goble have joined forces once again and they’re making their way around the UK with a new Ministry of Science Live production which they plan to make sure goes with a bang… along with a few flames and some fluffy clouds!

The Ministry of Science Live: Science Saved The World! show has just begun a 75-date national tour following a super-successful West End run at the Savoy Theatre in London.

So it’s bound to be turning up on a stage not too far from you.

Over the last few years we’ve certainly seen how science has led the way in getting our lives back to normal.

In this latest show, which producers say is “more explosive than ever”, Olivia and Mike get ready to dive deep into the world of science and look at how it shapes the modern world we live in.

They take an anarchic approach to science and look at the scientists, engineers and inventors who have created and moulded the world as we know it now – while proving that every one of us has the ability to help change it for the better.

It’s definitely educational, but lessons and learning were never this much fun.

You can expect 20ft-high liquid nitrogen clouds, exploding oxygen and hydrogen balloons, fire tornados, hydrogen bottle rockets, ignited methane and even a self-built hovercraft.

As the blurb says, it’s 100% educational, 200% entertaining, 300% explosive, and 400% fun.

Ideal for everyone aged six and above, you can find out more and when it’s on at a theatre near you by visiting ministryofscience.org
