TIME FOR A NEW SEASON TWEAK

The Mail on Sunday - You - - Beauty Buzz -

In anticipation of autumn, I thought it timely to talk trends. Yet, as I’m reliably informed by Mac’s director of make-up artistry Terry Barber, this season we’ll have ‘directions, not trends’, meaning less ‘full-on looks’ and more ‘tweaks and details’ in the form of soft, feminine washes of colour. Try sweeping Mac Extra Dimension Blush in Into The Pink (above right, £23) on eyelids to emulate the Altuzarra A/W 17 show. Or how about pressing blush pink shade Spirit Of Fall from the Trend Forecast Fall 17 Lip Palette (£36, both maccosmetics.co.uk) high on to cheeks, as per Roksanda’s catwalk look? The move towards stained terracotta lips with a blurry edge at the Topshop Unique show – created using the Lip Paint from Topshop Lip Kit in Crazy Beautiful (£18, topshop.com) – is one I will definitely be making. Overall, the objective is to look gently ‘filtered’ rather than ‘airbrushed’, says Barber. In practice, this means we’ll all be able to embrace a more relaxed beauty aesthetic in the season ahead. Hear, hear

to that.

‘My feet look as though they’ve come back to life!’ exclaimed my tester of Cowshed’s Udderly Gorgeous Pedicure (£75). At six months pregnant, the combination of exfoliation, water retention-beating massage, the sulphate- and paraben-free Udderly Gorgeous Stretch Mark Balm (£22) and cooling Leg & Foot Treatment (£19, all cowshedonline.com), for mums-to-be, made her feel as though her feet had been restored to their former glory. Book in for a treatment at one of its London-based spas – or keep the products handy at home.

Ever since its launch in 2000, Miller Harris has blended innovative, timeless scents. Now four favourites from the early years are returning for a limited time. Founder Lyn Harris created the foresty Terre de Bois for her grandfather, while the French violet and patchouli in Geranium Bourbon remembers her grandmother’s garden. Figue Amère is inspired by Ibiza’s fig trees and salty air and Fleur Oriental –a bergamot, Turkish rose and amber bestseller – will surely still be a hit in another 17 years. £75 each, millerharris.com.
