SPA DOCTOR

treats... WORKOUT RUT

- SHARON MARSHALL

WHAT’S THE PROBLEM?

I don’t respond to diets. I started a health kick in January cutting out dairy, booze and gluten. My other half lost two stone, I got fatter.

WHERE’S THE SOLUTION?

DNAFit at 38 Degrees North at the glorious Aguas de Ibiza hotel.

WHAT’S THE TREATMENT?

The same techniques as those adopted by Premiership football teams and Olympic athletes to analyse people’s DNA and provide a diet, fitness and general health report tailored to your genetic make up. My DNA test showed I was sensitive to carbs – which may explain why I wear a pizza for three days after eating one. Likewise my saturated fat sensitivity was high so that has to account for no more than eight per cent of calories. But on the upside I’m brilliant at taking caffeine and I’m not lactose-intolerant – so hello dairy again. On the exercise front it turns out I happily have the genes ideally suited to sprinting.

The spa break combines exercise and diet and by day three I was stiffness-free and full of energy.

DOES IT WORK?

Since getting home I’ve added a 20-minute pre-breakfast run to my exercise regime, I’ve stuck to their food recommendations and I’ve dropped a dress size.

DNAFit IBIZA at 38 Degrees North costs from £2,500 for six nights including accommodation and activities (flights extra). thirtyeightdegreesnorth.com
