Fearless Dembele lifts Spurs

- By Simon Collings

MOUSSA DEMBELE believes Tottenham have the same fearless attitude which helped propel Belgium to number one in the world.

Spurs go into today’s derby against West Ham looking to extend their unbeaten Premier League run to a club record 12 games, and their fine form has coincided with Dembele enjoying success on the international stage.

Last month, the midfielder helped Belgium climb to the top of the FIFA World Rankings for the first time.

And he now believes that the same spirit which drove his country to the summit is present within the Spurs squad.

‘We know we have a good team and that we have a lot of good players. We have confidence in our team, the same as we have at Tottenham,’ said Dembele.

‘Everywhere we go at Tottenham, we have a good feeling. Before in the past, it was not like this.’

Tottenham’s fine form is attributed to the squad finally adapting to manager Mauricio Pochettino’s highpressing style.

‘I think the mentality changed with the new manager. You can see the difference this year,’ Dembele added.

There was, however, a chance that Dembele would not have been part of Tottenham’s renaissance. He was heavily linked with a move away in the summer but he confirmed: ‘I am not looking to leave Tottenham, I just want to be important for the team at the moment.’
