DOES HAVING A CUP OF TEA CALM YOU DOWN?

Dr Luke Powles, GP at the Bupa Centre, Canary Wharf, says: ‘It depends on what kind of tea you drink and how many cups you have.

‘Many teas contain an anxiety-reducing amino acid called L-Theanine, so drinking it in moderation may reduce stress.

‘However, strange as it may sound, tea also contains caffeine which can raise your blood pressure and may cause you to feel more stressed.’
