THERET aren’t many athletes of whom you can ask the following question: What weighs more, your Olympic medals or your baby? But it’s a question that was asked teof the extraordin­aryeMichae­l Phelps this week — and so decorated is the American great that the answer is: his medals. While three-month-old Boomer (left with dad and mum Nicole) weighs ‘probably 15 or 16lbs,’ according to Phelps, his Olympic medals haul tips the scales at 17.97lbs. Medals have got heavier since Phelps won his first in Athens 12 years ago — his first gold weighed 135g, his most recent 500g.
