Sorry seems to be the hardest word for Costa, fumes Adrian

- By Adam Shergold

WEST HAM keeper Adrian is still waiting for an apology from Spanish compatriot Diego Costa after the Chelsea striker’s horror tackle.

Adrian was fortunate to escape serious injury and Costa very lucky to evade a red card after his reckless lunge on Monday.

To compound the injustice, Costa then went on to score an injury-time winner as the Hammers went down 2-1 in their league opener. Adrian, 29, even posted a photograph of the lunge on his Instagram account afterwards, writing: ‘Thank God my leg is OK after that, could have been much worse!! #fairplay.’

And he remains irritated by the challenge. Adrian said: ‘No, we have not spoken. What happened on the pitch finished on the pitch, but it was a bad tackle.

‘If the ball was in the middle, you can go for the ball, but the ball was one or two metres from my feet. We lost in the last minute and it was painful for us.”

The Hammers, who drew 1-1 in the Europa League against Astra Giurgiu on Thursday, face Bournemouth today. Adrian added: ‘We can play much better than we did in the Chelsea game. We have to concentrate.’
