It’s still party time for new mum India Rose
I’M ASTONISHED to see Soho property heiress India Rose James back drinking in London’s most fashionable places just weeks after giving birth.
I imagined India, 23, would take a break from her partying but it seems motherhood has not slowed her down at all. India, worth £482million, gave birth to her first child in July and has been painting the town red ever since – sometimes leaving her Kooks guitarist fiance Hugh Harris, 29, holding their baby.
In one Snapchat picture she has pasted pretend purple sunglasses on to a picture of little Saffi and captioned it: ‘I get bored when breastfeeding.’ In another, Hugh is seen chatting on the phone while cradling Saffi, while a third shows India swigging from a wine glass while balancing the baby on her lap. She captioned it: ‘Enjoying a glass of vino with Saffi on her first trip to Soho House.’
When I asked her about modern motherhood last week at the Oliver Peoples Store launch, India – the granddaughter of porn baron Paul Raymond – told me: ‘I won’t be breastfeeding tonight because I’ve been drinking champagne. I don’t plan on locking myself away for the next 18 years. We have our fun and, now that it’s London Fashion Week, I’m taking time out. I do feel a little guilty sometimes. I’ve ended up having an attachment to this little being.’
IT HAS the reputation as a Royal haunt for Princes Harry and William but is becoming the lowkey, must-not-be-seen place for Hollywood’s big stars. On Friday we spotted director Steven Spielberg in Clarke’s, the Kensington organic restaurant, taking a breather from his BFG tour. Just a few days earlier, Ralph Fiennes was tucking in there. If only they had chosen the same date, they could have nattered nostalgically over Schindler’s List.
AFTER Pippa Middleton advised readers of her book Celebrate to freeze trays of water to make ice, mum Carole has come up with a similar gem. In Baby London magazine, she notes that if a little one is going to a fancy dress party, it’s a good idea to ‘choose an outfit to complement the theme’. Wise words!
