Miranda tells how she was pulled back from love split by a puppy called Peggy

- By Jaber Mohamed

MIRANDA Hart has revealed how a bad relationship breakup left her devastated – until a dog named Peggy came into her life.

The 43-year-old Call The Midwife star was left ‘lonely, isolated and depressed’ after her split, but pulled through thanks to her shih tzu/bichon frise cross puppy which she bought in 2007.

In an extract from her new book Peggy And Me, published exclusively in today’s You magazine, Miranda said she was left feeling as if she would never love again.

‘When Peggy appeared in my life I’d just ended a long-term relationship and the Hart heart was not in the best shape.

‘I was lonely, isolated, depressed and uncertain I could ever love or be loved again. I was grateful to have something to cuddle. And I thought per- haps this dog is going to turn it all around. I realised it’s better to be single than to be in a relationship with someone who doesn’t give kind, loving and trusting approval. I felt my heartbreak begin to recede.

‘I had a being who loved me. It didn’t matter that it was just a dog.’
