Wife’s first aid keeps Monty in full bloom

GREEN-fingered guru Monty Don has revealed how his wife Sarah recently saved his life.

The 61-year-old Gardeners’ World presenter praised her quick thinking when he choked on his dinner. ‘She had to perform the Heimlich manoeuvre,’ he explained.

It’s not the first time Sarah has come to his rescue. In 2007, she dialled 999 when her husband collapsed at home due to peritonitis.

Monty, pictured, right, with Sarah, credits her and his pets with helping him stay healthy, and his love of the outdoors for keeping depression at bay. ‘I’ve had depression for much more of my life than I’ve not had it, but I seem to be at a good stage now and I don’t worry about it recurring,’ he says.
