DO TEENAGERS NEED MORE CALORIES THAN ANYONE ELSE?

Elizabeth Proctor, children’s dietician at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, says: ‘Teenagers grow and develop rapidly, and take part in increased physical activity, so often need more calories to support the changes. It is important to make sure that the calories are from healthy sources and not from foods high in fat and sugar such as sweets, chocolates, crisps and biscuits, that can lead to weight problems.’
