Inquiry needed into tragic Zane
The Mail on Sunday is to be congratulated on its lengthy and valuable coverage of the tragic Zane Gbangbola case. The inquest into his death found that the seven-year-old died from carbon monoxide emitted from a petrol pump his parents were using to clear water from their home, not hydrogen cyanide in the floodwater. But I and many others concerned with the case have been troubled by the dismissive attitude of the authorities. Shadow Home Secretary Andy Burnham is absolutely right to draw a parallel with the Hillsborough case. In both instances, the authorities seem to have been much more concerned to cover their own backs than reach out a helping hand to tragically bereaved families. A public inquiry is most certainly needed. The Rev Andrew McLuskey, Stanwell, Middlesex
