Writing about her brother Boris’s hands-on-knees pose when pictured with the Cabinet recently, Rachel Johnson said he was sitting ‘thighs akimbo’. Actually, ‘akimbo’ means to have hands on hips and elbows bent, deriving from ‘a keen bow’, meaning in a sharp curve.
