Brackley’s hopes are dashed by Nouble
BRACKLEY were denied a famous win when Gillingham fought back from two goals down to earn a 2-2 draw.
Goals from Alex Gudger and James Armson looked like they would put the National League North side in the next round. But with home fans calling for boss Justin Edinburgh’s sacking, Frank Nouble struck twice for the League One side.
‘It makes for an interesting replay but we’re just disappointed not to have closed the game out,’ said Brackley boss Kevin Wilkin.
Dover needed Ricky Miller to carry on his superb scoring streak to earn the National League side a 1-1 draw at League Two Cambridge United.
Piero Mingoia had fired Cambridge in front but Miller equalised from close range with his 18th goal of the season.
Solihull Moors came from two goals down to draw 2-2 at Yeovil.
Goals from Ryan Hedges and Otis Khan put Yeovil in control before they had Kevin Dawson sent off.
That gave the National League side a boost and two goals from Jack Byrne set up a replay.
Ninth-tier amateurs Westfields were within nine minutes of beating National League North side Curzon Ashton. Craig Jones gave the Midland Premier team the lead, but Adam Morgan earned the visitors a draw with a late equaliser.
Portsmouth, FA Cup winners just eight years ago, were dumped out of this season’s competition at the first hurdle, beaten 2-1 at home by Wycombe.
