Fat chance Albion will profit from Berahino

-

FORMER Sunderland manager Dick Advocaat claims the club do not spend enough money to compete in the Premier League and suggested they need to be relegated in order to rebuild and move forwards.

Advocaat, who kept Sunderland up in 2015 before leaving after eight winless games at the start of last season, said: ‘You can only define Sunderland’s problems if they spend the same as other clubs and they don’t.

‘OK, Allardyce did a great job but it went down to the wire. Maybe it’s better to go down, build a new team like Newcastle and they have a great club, a great fanbase, a great stadium.’ WEST BROM know January will be their last chance to cash in on Saido Berahino but the club outcast intends to see out his contract.

The Baggies were asking for about £25million before the season started and Sportsmail was told by one club owner that they were not the only ones scared off by the high asking price.

Stoke, West Ham and Crystal Palace were among those to show an interest in Berahino, who has already turned down extending his time at Albion. He was recently judged to be overweight by manager Tony Pulis and sent to train on his own in October. Berahino appeared to ridicule that, posting a photograph on Instagram of himself topless during a fitness programme in France captioned: ‘Fat boy.’

SPURS midfielder Mousa Dembele has been allowed to return to England after injury ruled him out of Belgium’s World Cup qualifier against Estonia.

Belgium manager Roberto Martinez took the decision after Dembele was unable to train yesterday or Friday.

The 29-year-old is expected to recover in time for Tottenham’s Premier League match against West Ham on Saturday.

Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany has also been ruled out of Belgium’s game due to a groin complaint.
