GARETH AINSWORTH was delighted to see his defence enjoy an easier day at the office. ‘The midfield was the absolute engine room,’ said the Wycombe boss. Goals in each half from Scott Kashket sealed the points.

DARREN WAY described his Yeovil side’s performanc­e as ‘fantastic’ despite conceding a late equaliser. Otis Khan opened the scoring before Rommy Boco’s last-gasp leveller.

PORTSMOUTH 1 STEVENAGE 2

PAUL COOK revealed he had to take off Michael Doyle and Christian Burgess after a half-time dressing-room incident. Steven Schumacher and Matt Godden netted for the visitors, with Michael Smith replying.

LUKE GAMBIN scored twice and John Akinde also netted as Barnet extended their unbeaten league run to seven games. Michael O’Connor and Jonathan Forte responded for the visitors.

PAUL TISDALE felt his Exeter side deserved more than just a point. ‘We didn’t run out of steam, we had some resolve about us,’ he said. Luton assistant manager Paul Hart said: ‘We are pleased with a point, it has been a tough week.’

BRAD POTTS, Jack Payne, Kyle Vassell and Kelvin Mellor were all on the scoresheet as Blackpool ran riot. Rhys Healey netted for Newport, with Sean Rigg also missing a penalty.

DONCASTER 3 L ORIENT 1

LIAM MANDEVILLE’S brace of penalties helped Doncaster to a win that boss Darren Ferguson described as ‘very pleasing’. Earlier, Callum Kennedy’s freekick for the visitors was cancelled out by Jordan Houghton.

LUKE BERRY’S double inspired Cambridge to victory. Uche Ikpeazu had given the hosts the lead, while Billy Waters notched a consolatio­n for Cheltenham, whose boss Gary Johnson said: ‘We don’t look a threat.’

CRAWLEY 3 GRIMSBY 2

TWO goals from Jordan Roberts helped Crawley to victory. After James Collins’ opener was cancelled out by Omar Bogle, Roberts struck twice in the second half before a second for Bogle gave Grimsby a late consolatio­n.

COLCHESTER 4 CREWE 0

KURTIS GUTHRIE, Owen Garvan, Drey Wright and Brennan Dickenson’s gave Colchester their biggest win of the season so far. Head coach John McGreal was delighted. He said: ‘They’ve all put in a hell of a shift.’

CARLISLE 5 MANSFIELD 2

CHARLIE WYKE’S second-half hat-trick helped Carlisle move up to top spot. Jason Kennedy and Reggie Lambe also found the net for Keith Curle’s men. Patrick Hoban and Mitchell Rose were on target for Mansfield.
