NEW signing Yoann Arquin ended Mansfield’s hoodoo of not scoring in the first half at home all season, before Ben Whiteman and Rhys Bennett made sure of the points. ‘We made it a bit more difficult than perhaps we should have done,’ said home boss Steve Evans.

HAT-TRICK hero Kurtis Guthrie was described as ‘terrific’ by Colchester boss John McGreal. Shaun Brisley equalised for Carlisle after Chris Porter’s opener, but that was as good as it got for the visitors.

HARTLEPOOL 0 GRIMSBY 1

MARCUS BIGNOT hailed the character of his Grimsby side as they dug out a win. Adi Yussuf, signed recently from Mansfield, netted the only goal. ‘Sometimes you have to go with an ugly one,’ said Bignot. ‘I was happy to see it through.’

ORIENT 1 BARNET 3

LEYTON ORIENT boss Andy Edwards conceded it was ‘not unthinkabl­e’ that his side could go down. Ricardo Santos scored twice for Barnet. Paul McCallum cut the deficit, but Curtis Weston made sure of the points in added time, with all goals coming in the second half.
