SHES is the British child starst whose family pushed themselvesth to the brink of bankruptcy to make her a success in Hollywood. And now 12-year-old Millie Bobby Brown has landed a monster role – in the £100million Godzilla sequel. Millie, from Bournemouth, has become one of Hollywood’s hottest young stars thanks to her role as enigmatic Jane ‘Eleven’ Ives in the cult sci-fi series Stranger Things, which attracted more than 100million hits when it streamed on internet movie site Netflix last year. Legendary E.T. director Steven Spielberg dubbed her a ‘breakout star’ but Millie revealed in an exclusive interview with The Mail on Sunday that her family had nearly gone bust in pursuit of her dreams of stardom, saying ‘there were lots of tears along the way’.

Hollywood’s rumour mill went into overdrive last night, with some saying Millie could be earning as much as £1million for her first big-screen break.

‘This will make her a bona-fide star,’ one top Hollywood talent agent said last night.

‘Mille’s only 12 but she blew everyone away in auditions. She came close to landing the lead in the first Godzilla movie but she was an unknown then.

‘This is a massive break for her and will make her a huge name internationally.’

Her family was forced to borrow money to survive in Los Angeles until Millie got her big break, starring alongside Winona Ryder in the awardwinning show, which is currently filming its second series.

‘We were so broke there were times we didn’t know if we could afford food or to pay the rent,’ she said.

The first Godzilla movie in 2014, pictured left, starred British actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson (husband of artist Sam Taylor-Johnson) and took nearly £200million at the box office.

Godzilla: King Of The Monsters starts filming this summer.
