JOHN COLEMAN praised his 10-man Accrington side’s ‘steely determinat­ion’. Omar Beckles was sent off for the hosts on the stroke of half-time after Billy Kee and Matty Pearson had put them 2-0 up, but Colchester could only muster Chris Porter’s penalty in response.

CARLISE recoverd from Adebayo Akinfenwa’s early goal to secure the points via Jamie Proctor and Reggie Lambe. Visiting manager Keith Curle was sent off late on, and said: ‘The players stood up.’

CONOR CHAPLIN’S late strike to earn Portsmouth a point earned the praise of boss Paul Cook, who said: ‘You will not see a better one. The goal should take the plaudits.’ Mauro Vilhete’s brilliant free-kick had given Barnet the lead.

KEVIN NOLAN felt Notts County got their ‘just rewards’ against his old club. A Jon Stead brace and one from Jorge Grant won it, with Paul McCallum and Teddy Mezague replying for Orient.

A LATE Ollie Turton goal rescued a point for Crewe after they fell behind to Nathan Delfouneso and Tom Aldred goals. Chris Dagnall started the revival, and manager Dave Artell said: ‘We probably should have won in the end.’

HARTLEPOOL 1 PLYMOUTH 1

A WONDER strike from Matty Kennedy rescued a point for Plymouth after Rhys Oates’ opener. Away boss Derek Adams said of Kennedy: ‘To do that with 15 minutes to go is fantasy.’

CAMBRIDGE 3 NEWPORT 2

MARK ROBERTS spared George Maris’ blushes in Cambridge’s comeback. Ryan Bird’s double put Newport 2-0 up, before Barry Corr and Leon Legge hit back. Maris’ late penalty was then saved, but Roberts converted the rebound.

GRIMSBY 3 MANSFIELD 0

STEVE EVANS was sent off as his Mansfield side were beaten by goals from Chris Clements and Calum Dyson (two). Hayden White also saw red, and Evans insisted: ‘I used no verbals.’

CHELTENHAM 2 YEOVIL 0

CHELTENHAM boosted their survival hopes thanks to goals from Tin Plavotic and Billy Waters (penalty). ‘We have a group who can rise to it when they need to,’ said home manager Gary Johnson.

PAUL TISDALE felt his Exeter side picked up a valuable point after Reuben Reid cancelled out Jobi McAnuff’s excellent solo goal for Stevenage. ‘We are back into the flow of an unbeaten run,’ said Tisdale. ‘I was happy.’

PAUL MULLIN scored twice as Morecambe climbed above Crawley. ‘We could have scored more. It was thoroughly deserved,’ said manager Jim Bentley. Rhys Turner gave the visitors an early lead and James Collins (penalty) struck the hosts’ consolatio­n.
