Lay off poor Kate’s ‘recycled’ clobber

-

IF YOU wear something twice, are you ‘recycling’ an ‘old’ skirt and jacket? Of course not. But this is what they said of the Duchess of C when she wore a maroon skirt and jacket twice. This kind of silly commentary on her clothes can only encourage throwaway fashion – buying clothes like single-use plastic water bottles. As any sensible woman knows, if you don the same outfit only twice in five years – as the Duchess did – it counts as ‘nearly new’. I’ve got skirts older than Paxo’s girlfriend that still have plenty of wear in them. We should celebrate thrift (see the Queen, using an electric fire rather than turning on the central heating) and save our sneers for consumerism, Trumpish bling and waste.
