House was the love of my life

-

TORY MP Andrew Bridgen bought The Old Rectory in Leicestershire for £2.1million in 2011 and spent a further £450,000 on it. But the politician needed to sell the eight-bedroom Georgian pile as part of a divorce settlement with his ex-wife Jacqueline (pictured with him above). He could not find a buyer because of the proposed rail route and sold to HS2 in June 2016 for £1.9million. Mr Bridgen said: ‘I would have got more in the open market. That property was the love of my life. I don’t think I can afford another one like it.’
