Chippy batters posh rivals to be named London’s top restaurant

-

A FISH and chip shop has been ranked the best restaurant in London on an online review forum.

Last week the Golden Chippy in Greenwich found itself top of the list of 18,000 eateries compiled by website Trip Advisor.

Thanks to rankings from more than 600 customers, it even beat fine-dining establishments such as The Foyer at Claridge’s.

While a meal of Dover sole and chips would set you back £56 at Claridge’s, the most expensive meal option at The Golden Chippy, including side dishes and a drink, comes in at £15.

The Golden Chippy’s owner, Chris Kanizi, said his customers came from all over the world.

One of its Trip Advisor reviews said: ‘We would go back to the area just to eat here. Not only is the food outstanding, but the staff are so kind and friendly.’

The Trip Advisor list constantly updates, taking in the ratings of the latest reviews.
