Fury as bank customers cut off from cash

THOUSANDS of Barclays customers were stuck without cash yesterday and branches forced to close after the bank’s computers crashed.

Customers were left stranded while using cash machines and paying for restaurant meals with cards.

Barclays refused to say how many of its 15million card customers were affected, but there were thousands of complaints on social media during the ‘black-out’ around lunchtime.

One Twitter user wrote: ‘Just got declined in Argos paying for my son’s birthday presents.’

Customers were last night still complaining about being unable to access cash, despite Barclays saying ‘everything is now back up and running’.
