Adele’s £4m pop star mansion in, er, East Grinstead

-

WHEN she isn’t singing in dulcet tones, Adele is notorious for her brash Cockney accent, so she may have to smooth out her vowels now that she’s moved to sleepy middle-class Sussex. I can reveal that the Rolling In The Deep singer has bought a £4 million mansion in the town of East Grinstead – best known for being the setting of The Norman Conquests, Alan Ayckbourn’s comedy of manners trilogy.

Adele and her Old Etonian husband Simon Konecki have snapped up an 18th Century manor house nestling in 48 acres – giving them plenty of space in which to bring up their four-year-old son Angelo.

A source tells me: ‘Adele doesn’t want to live with fellow celebrities in Chipping Norton or Primrose Hill. She has deliberately chosen the least showbiz place she can think of so she can live a normal, unflashy existence.’

One or two of the star’s elderly neighbours do not even know who she is. One told me last week: ‘I wouldn’t know Adele if she fell in my pudding.’

Sources tell me the singer is loving life at her secluded eight-bedroom home following a hectic world tour. They say she plans to use the warmer spring days with Angelo to explore the massive grounds, which feature a tennis court and treehouse.

The main property boast s exposed beams and huge inglenook fireplaces, and there are three guest cottages, so there is plenty of space for Adele to put up A-list friends such as Beyoncé and actress Jennifer Lawrence.

The singer,g , who is worth an estimated £85 million due to the phenomenal success of her three albums, also adores hiding in plain sight. In 2015, she spent hours disguising herself with a prosthetic nose and chin and auditioned to be an Adele impersonator.

And last month the 28-year-old revealed that she had started every performance on her tour hiding in a stage box, so that she could be wheeled to the stage undetected by her fans.
