CHRIS LYNN – THE BASEBALL SWING

-

A CROSS-BATTED style hitter who does not move his feet a great deal — nor, crucially, his head — but relies on incredible bat speed and a huge chunk of Gray Nicolls wood to generate his power. The Australian’s motto is ‘swing hard’. Lynn, 27, developed his aerial swats down the ground in backyard cricket as a boy, on a playing area constructed by his dad. The netting surrounding the pitch meant the only way he could score was to aim for the back fence, and when he broke through with Queensland, his strength in that area translated perfectly to the Gabba’s dimensions where the short straight boundaries are in contrast to the huge ones square of the wicket.icket.
