AB de VILLIERS – THE KAMIKAZE SWEEP

-

A BATSMAN who uses the full 360 degrees on offer to score his runs. No-one plays the slog sweep against the pacemen like the South African star. His bravery in getting down on one knee to 90 mile per hour deliveries is matched by the keenest of eyes and an ability to land precision blows with his timing. In contrast to Jos Buttler, who essentially uses the pace put on the ball by the bowler, De Villiers gets into a low hitting position, often in line or just outside offstump, to open up a huge arc on the leg-side and looks to clear the boundary between long leg and deep midwicket with his power.
