Premier League stars offer to help victims of Grenfell Tower blaze

-

ENGLAND defender Ryan Bertrand will visit Grenfell Tower in a bid to help rehouse families who lost their homes in the disaster.

The London-born footballer visited the scene of the tragedy on Friday and was moved to go back again.

‘I went to Grenfell Tower. I want to help, not just donate. I can’t think of all the answers but I can do what I feel is needed,’ the Southampton player wrote on Twitter. ‘Starting with rehousing the victims, and making sure they don’t leave the W11 post code.’

Bertrand is the latest Premier League star to pledge support for the victims of the fire, which has claimed at least 58 lives. Raheem Sterling, who grew up just a mile from the Kensington tower block, made a ‘substantial’ contribution to the relief fund, and Arsenal right-back Hector Bellerin agreed to donate £50 for every minute he plays at the European Under-21 Championship.

DAVID MOYES could make a return to management with first club Preston, should they lose current incumbent Simon Grayson to Sunderland.

Preston are aware Grayson is wanted in the north-east and have contingency plans. They include a bold move for Moyes, who still lives in the area.

WARREN JOYCE is poised to take over as manager of Melbourne City this week.

The ex-Manchester United coach took a flight yesterday ahead of finalising terms with the Australian A-League side, who hope he can accelerate the development of their young players.
