Cowell happy to see less of slim pal Shalit
SHOWBIZ stars are doing double takes when they meet newly slim superagent Jonathan Shalit – after he lost four stone thanks to a gastric-band operation.
The 55-yearold, a close friend of Simon Cowell, had the £25,000 weight-loss surgery in February. Since then he has shrunk from 16½ stone to 12½.
Shalit, whose clients include Spice Girl Mel B and presenter Denise Van Outen, said: ‘I feel fantastic. Simon’s complimented me on how good I look. The truth is I was obese, I was a glutton but I was concerned I might have a stroke or heart attack.
‘Some friends have been doing a double take when they see me. I do look different. This has changed my life.’
Shalit, who wants to lose another stone, added: ‘Now I’ve had to spend a fortune buying a whole new wardrobe of smaller clothes – my stylish wife Katrina is supervising that one!’
Mindfulness... by podcast
PEOPLE with blood cancer are being helped by mindfulness sessions on podcast.
Studies have shown the psychological impact of blood cancers on patients, and David Innes, Chair of the Chronic Lymphocytic Lymphoma Support Association, explained: ‘Blood cancer patients are often managed in early stages through a watch-and-wait strategy.
‘The psychological implications of being told you have cancer but then being told you won’t be actively treated cannot be underestimated.
‘In unsettling times such as these, mindfulness techniques could make a significant difference to patients and their loved ones.’
