Now Everton sign Spanish striker

- By Dominic King

EVERTON have taken their spending past £60million after concluding a deal for Malaga striker Sandro Ramirez.

After completing the signings of Jordan Pickford, who cost £30m, and Ajax captain Davy Klaassen, who arrived for £25m, on Thursday — which represented the biggest investment the club had made in a day — Everton have swiftly followed on.

The Spanish Under 21 international, who is with his country in Poland for Euro 2017, underwent a medical last weekend after he arrived on Merseyside with his advisors to discuss personal terms.

It had appeared earlier this summer that Ramirez would end up at Atletico Madrid but their subsequent transfer embargo opened the door for Everton to pounce and activate the £5.2m release clause in his contract.

It is expected Everton will make a formal announcement to confirm his signing in the next 48 hours but this flurry will not be the end of their activity, with boss Ronald Koeman and Steve Walsh, the Director of Football, working on more deals.

Gylfi Sigurdsson, the Swansea playmaker, could smash the transfer record that Pickford has just set, with the Welsh club wanting £35m.

Michael Keane, the Burnley defender, is a prime target to bolster their defence and would cost £25m but a deal is some way from being struck for a player who had seemed at one point to be heading back to Manchester United.

Another striker is wanted, too, with Walsh a fan of M’Baye Niang, who spent part of last season on loan at Watford from AC Milan.

SEVILLA are considering a cut-price offer to bring Alberto Moreno back from Liverpool. The left-back is available and would welcome a return, but Liverpool are aiming to secure a fee of close to the £16m they paid for him in 2014. Sevilla would only go as far as £6m.
