Hundreds of athletes are still being pursued by federations
THE Mail on Sunday has asked global governing bodies what they have done to investigate alleged Russian cheats in their sports. The bodies below have dossiers by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), who told the MoS the federations could provide information. Here we detail what is happening, sport-by-sport, grouped by different response types.
CONFIRMATION OF CASES ACTIVELY PURSUED FROM:
IAAF (athletics, 203 cases, some of those among 68 Russians already serving drugs bans. Dozens of further cases in pipeline, others being investigated. All 203 barred from competition for now)
FIS (skiing, 6 cases, ongoing. All athletes suspended in interim)
WCF (curling, 3 investigations ongoing. Athletes free to compete for now)
FISA (rowing, 16 cases, 10 situations may lead to ‘outcomes’, tbc. All athletes free to compete for now)
UIPM (modern pentathlon, 2 cases, one athlete serving drug ban already, the other not competing. Further action tbc)
ISAF (sailing, 1 case, ‘review underway, samples to be requested as required … conclusion expected by July’). ‘ALL CASES CLOSED’:
ISSF (shooting, 1 case, athlete cleared)
ITTF (table tennis, 1 case, athlete cleared)
ITU (triathlon, 3 cases, all cleared)
ICF (canoeing, initially 39 names, but turned into 9 cases. All athletes cleared because evidence insufficient and now free to compete). NON-DETAILED RESPONSES:
