SERGIO AGUERO i s facing a police investigation after a Bournemouth steward alleged he was attacked by the striker.

Aguero was part of a group of Manchester City players who ran over to celebrate Raheem Sterling’s dramatic late winner with their travelling fans when the incident is said to have taken place.

Dorset Police have taken a statement from the steward but City insist Aguero has no case to answer and the player denies wrongdoing.

City won in the 97th minute.

SERGIO AGUERO denied he attacked a steward in the aftermath of Manchester City’ s extraordinary 97 th-minute winner at Bournemouth yesterday, when all hell broke loose.

Aguero is facing a police investigation after a Bournemouth steward alleged he was hit by the striker.

Aguero took to Twitter last night to say: ‘Great win today! On this story about their steward, I did not hit anyone, this allegation is false, and the TV pictures prove it. C’mon City.’

Aguero was part of a group of City players who ran over to celebrate Raheem Sterling’s dramatic late winner with their travelling contingent in the East Stand when the incident is said to have occurred.

Dorset Police have taken a statement from the steward. The celebrations also saw Sterling s ent off and t wo City f ans arrested.

A City source insisted they had seen seen footage of the alleged incident and claim that Aguero will have no case to answer. It all came at the end of a frustrating

afternoon for the forward, who was late off the City team bus and did not warm up with his team-mates after being named on the bench.

Aguero came on in the 66th minute as City salvaged their dramatic win.

Sterling was sent off for a second yellow card after jumping into the crowd to join City’s joyous supporters and a skirmish broke out in that corner of the ground.

Footage taken by fans in t he crowd appears to show the flashpoint.

Aguero can be seen protesting with a steward who has a City fan pinned to the floor. After talking to the steward, Aguero then raises his arm angrily, at which point a policeman intervenes, with he and the player also arguing.

Aguero attempts to go back to the fan again but is blocked by the officer and the two push each other roughly, the striker getting particularly irate.

Emotions were running high after Pep Guardiola’s side scored the winner — having fallen behind to Charlie Daniels’ first-half strike — in the seventh minute of stoppage time.

The fourth official had indicated five minutes of added time and referee Mike Dean was booed roundly by Bournemouth’s supporters for allowing more.

Bournemouth had taken the lead when Daniels struck a half- volley from outside the area in the 13th minute. But City equalised in the 21st minute through teenage sensation Gabriel Jesus before Sterling pulled victory out of the fire.

Ne ws of the alleged incident broke on MailOnline after Guardiola spoke about it afterwards.

But Guardiola added: ‘If you can’t celebrate with the fans, the best solution is not to invite the fans.

‘At the end of the game you score a goal, you can imagine how happy the guy is, and the team — they want to go with our fans.’
