Meghan’s ex makes a comedy... about his ex marrying a Royal
MEGHAN MARKLE’S ex-husband Trevor Engelson has signed a deal to produce a new TV series – which, funnily enough, just happens to be about an ex-wife marrying a member of the British Royal Family.
In a plot that’s surely inspired by his own life with Markle, and which will no doubt embarrass the British Monarchy, the TV show will feature a beautiful ‘commoner’ who weds a British prince – and an ex-husband who suddenly finds himself sharing custody of their children with the Royal Family.
While the as- yet- untitled TV show is fictional – Trevor and Meghan never had children– he admits the show is inspired by real-life events, although he stops short of admitting the characters are based on Meghan and Harry.
The idea began with a conversation Trevor, 40, had with fellow producer Dan Farah during which they imagined what his life would have been like if he and Meghan had children and had to share custody with the Royal Family.
Fox TV has ordered a pilot episode of the show and if it proves successful they will give the go- ahead for a full series. The sitcom is already predicted to be a big hit for Fox TV – Modern Family executive producer Danny Zuker and New Girl director Jake Kasdan have been lined up – and it will be a publicist’s dream, thanks to its subject matter.
Already news of the show has been conveniently leaked amid rumours that Meghan, 36, will make her first official appearance alongside 33- year- old Harry in Toronto at the Invictus Games’ opening ceremony.
Whispers continue to swirl that an engagement announcement is imminent, and if a Royal marriage happens next year it will propel Trevor’s show further into the spotlight.
Until now the producer, 40, has been known for little apart from his short- lived marriage with Meghan, which ended after two years in 2013. His last big film was the 2010 drama Remember Me, starring Robert Pattinson.
He has two other TV series in production at present – 1980s cocaine drama Snowfall and a series based on the classic hit movie Heathers.
