The key to helping homeless
One correspondent last week called for urgent action over homelessness. A vital step would be to control our borders, as Australia does. Even a huge house-building programme would not work if hundreds of people arrive at our airports each week needing accommodation. Name and address supplied I voted to leave the EU due to the open-borders policy. But with a lack of progress in Brexit talks, perhaps we should ask Brussels to treat us as a special case and allow us to control our borders? In return, we would call a new referendum, which would most probably result in a Remain vote. This proposal would give us the best of both worlds: the ability to control immigration and remain a member of the EU.
