Mollie: I’m so shocked that I knocked out amazing Aston
After Strictly’s biggest controversy, two wildly differing views
SATURDAYS star Mollie King has revealed her shock after surviving a dance-off against Strictly Come Dancing favourite Aston Merrygold.
Mollie, 30, admitted she thought she would be eliminated when she found herself in the bottom two with Aston last week.
She said: ‘I thought it was all going to be over for sure. Aston is one of the very best dancers in the competition.
‘If it had been a very different week or a different dance it could have been a different outcome. It is what it is. We are very grateful.’
Aston’s departure from the hit BBC show was greeted with astonishment by viewers last Sunday night – and the controversy shows no sign of abating.
Mollie also laughed off reports that she is having an affair with her 23-year-old professional dance partner, A J Pritchard.
She said: ‘I think it’s inevitable with the show that there are always romance rumours. You have got to laugh it off.’
Asked if she found Pritchard attractive, she said: ‘I think he is lovely looking, isn’t he? But I don’t fancy him.’
Mollie and AJ last night danced a paso doble to Layla by Derek and the Dominos.
Meanwhile, Debbie McGee and her partner Giovanni Pernice, who scored a perfect 40 last week, hoped to turn heads again with a daring salsa to Can’t Take My Eyes Off You by Boys Town Gang. Mollie and partner AJ last night
