- by Joe Bernstein

MANCHESTER UNITED manager Jose Mourinho checked on Sweden’s RB Leipzig winger Emil Forsberg on Friday.

The 26-year-old was man of the match as Sweden beat Italy 1-0 in the first leg of their World Cup play-off.

Meanwhile, Ander Herrera will reject advances from Atletico Madrid. Herrera wants to stay at Old Trafford and United are in talks to extend his deal. MANCHESTER CITY are considering a bid for Lyon defender Mouctar Diakhaby amid increasing interest from rival clubs including Chelsea.

The 20-year-old has been watched several times by City staff including Mikel Arteta and Txiki Begiristain during Lyon’s Europa League win over Everton at Goodison Park last month.

City are aware Lyon have interest in their own defender Eliaquim Mangala, who spoke to the French club last summer.

CRYSTAL PALACE boss Roy Hodgson was in the crowd to watch Swedish midfielder Jakob Johansson of AEK Athens score the winning goal against Italy in their World Cup play-off tie. NEW YORK CITY forward Jack Harrison has emerged as a potential target for Everton, Leicester City and Brighton and Hove Albion. The 20-year-old’s Stateside performances and his call-up to England’s Under 21 squad have alerted clubs ahead of the January window. Harrison, valued at around £6million, was on Manchester United’s books before moving to the US aged 14. He has scored 10 goals this season.
