Sit down, tune in and enjoy a feast of viewing...for free

ONE of the attractions of increased competition among TV and film service providers is that many try to lure in new customers with free offers.

There is no reason why you cannot take advantage of this generosity as long as you remember to quit before a provider starts asking for money.

These deals are particularly attractive if you are hooked on a TV series you might struggle to find on terrestrial channels.

Popular examples include Game Of Thrones, Stranger Things, The Crown and Mindhunter – where box set bingeing can be a pastime for the winter months.

Both Netflix and Amazon allow you to enjoy thousands of shows for free for up to a month while Now TV has a service that is free for 14 days.

Film streaming service provider Mubi also offers a free monthly trial after which you pay £5.99 a month. If you prefer to watch DVD box-sets rather than stream films Cinema Paradiso offers a free 14-day trial.

Ewan TaylorGibson, TV expert for comparison website uSwitch, says: ‘Being fluid and flexible is the name of the game – and there are always offers available.

‘You have nothing to lose by trying a service out for free. Also most providers – including Sky with add-on services – now offer 30 or 31-day rolling contracts.

‘They are great as you can cancel them at any time.’
