UPS & DOWNS

-

PREMIER LEAGUE

WEST BROM’S fate will be all but sealed if they lose at Manchester United today. That would leave them 12 points from safety with four games remaining.

CHAMPIONSHIP

Wolves have won promotion back to the Premier League without kicking a ball today. Brentford’s late equaliser at Fulham yesterday means Wolves are guaranteed a toptwo spot. If Wolves, back in the top flight after six years away, beat Birmingham at Molineux today they’ll be a point from securing the title.

LEAGUE ONE

Bury are the first Football League team to be relegated following a 3-2 home defeat by Northampton. The Shakers go down with four games still to play after three seasons in the division.

LEAGUE TWO

Accrington missed their chance to replace Bury. Stanley could have clinched promotion from League Two yesterday but will have to wait a few more days after being held to a 1-1 draw by Exeter. If they beat Yeovil on Tuesday (or Exeter fail to beat Chesterfield), John Coleman’s men will be promoted.

NATIONAL LEAGUE

Macclesfield needed to beat Leyton Orient to book a return to the Football League after a six-year absence, but drew 1-1. They’ll be champions if they win at Eastleigh on Saturday, or earlier if Tranmere lose at Dover on Tuesday.
