WIGAN clinched promotion with a stroll in the sun. Fleetwood’s new boss Joey Barton watched (right) as the side he will take over on June 2 rolled over. Wigan now aim to pip rivals Blackburn to the title, and boss Paul Cook said: ‘Blackburn got a bit ahead of themselves with some things said about us becoming fatigued, but we haven’t.’ Max Power, Gavin Massey, Dan Burn and Chey Dunkley got the goals.

THEO ROBINSON bagged a hattrick to help Southend thump struggling MK Dons, who are now six points from safety with three games to go. Stephen McLaughlin got Southend’s other, heading home Michael Kightly’s free-kick.

DUCKENS NAZON’S double earned Oldham a point, but relegation worries remain for both sides. Wimbledon twice led through Jonathan Meades and Joe Pigott.

HIGH-flying Shrewsbury had to settle for a point from a draw against already-relegated Bury. Abo Eisa marked his first league start by firing Shrewsbury into an early lead before Jay O’Shea pulled Bury level.

OXFORD took a major step towards survival with victory at Doncaster. Substitute James Henry’s second-half header moved Karl Robinson’s side six points clear of the bottom four.

SCUNTHORPE 1 WALSALL 0

SCUNTHORPE moved a step closer to sealing a play-off spot thanks to a slender victory over Walsall. Ryan Yates scored the game’s goal as Scunthorpe recorded only their second victory in 12 league matches.

GILLINGHAM 0 BLACKPOOL 3

KYLE VASSELL set Blackpool on their way to a fourth straight win. Nathan Delfouneso doubled the lead and although Jay Spearing missed a penalty, Kelvin Mellor wrapped it up.

ROTHERHAM virtually sealed their place in the play-offs thanks to goals from Michael Smith and Caolan Lavery. Manager Paul Warne said: ‘It takes the pressure off a little bit, but we are still going to perform at our maximum.’

NORTHAMPTO­N gave their survival hopes a huge boost with victory over promotionc­hasing Plymouth. John-Joe O’Toole put them ahead before Zak Vyner’s own-goal.

CHARLIE WYKE’S injury-time equaliser for Bradford left Rochdale still in the relegation zone. Matt Done’s opener for the home side had looked like boosting their survival hopes until Wyke inflicted late heartbreak.

NICKY AJOSE’S first Charlton goal of the season gave them a precious win over play-off rivals Portsmouth. Boss Lee Bowyer said: ‘Nicky took it superbly. It was his only real chance.’
