Anything she can do! Now Meghan’s ex gets engaged
IT WAS a romance that must have been hard to cope with and certainly impossible to ignore, as his former wife was wooed by a prince in spectacular style.
But Meghan Markle’s first husband, Trevor Engelson, has put the heartbreak of losing her behind him after finding love again and getting engaged.
The Hollywood producer, 41, popped the question to girlfriend Tracey Kurland in California’s lush Napa Valley wine country on Friday, surrounded by flower petals.
He posted a picture of the special moment on Instagram, saying: ‘Luckiest guy I know! Get ready to party!’ Nutritionist Kurland, 29, showed off her stunning diamond solitaire engagement ring.
Meghan has described Engelson as ‘my first great love’. They met in 2004 and lived together in his modest three-bedroom bungalow near Hollywood’s Sunset Strip before marrying in September 2011 at a beach resort in Jamaica.
It was a very different occasion to the pomp and pageantry on show at Windsor two weeks ago, with Meghan wearing a simple strapless gown to marry Engelson in a ceremony on the sand.
It came just as the actress landed her role in Suits, which was filmed in Toronto – friends later blamed the pressures of a long-distance romance for their split. The couple divorced in August 2013, citing irreconcilable differences.
According to Royal biographer Andrew Morton’s book about Meghan, she posted her wedding and engagement rings back to Engelson. He was described as ‘heartbroken and devastated’.
A source said: ‘The divorce hit Trevor very hard. He went through a rough time and it didn’t help when Meghan got together with Prince Harry. His friends are very happy that he’s found love again.’
Kurland, who shares Meghan’s love of yoga, travel and designer handbags, met Engelson through mutual friends last November.
Last night the couple declined to comment on their engagement.
