Warnock points finger at Kane over Ralls’ dismissal

- By Ian Herbert

CARDIFF CITY manager Neil Warnock launched a stinging attack on Harry Kane last night, after shouting a four-letter insult at the Spurs striker and accusing him of getting a player sent off.

Kane sprinted 20 yards to manhandle Joe Ralls after the Cardiff midfielder had cynically taken out Tottenham’s Lucas Moura in what referee Mike Dean adjudged violent conduct. ‘You don’t go off like that,’ Warnock said of Kane. ‘He’s doing that to make an issue of it, to get the referee thinking it’s worse than what it is. An England player going off like that, dear me.

‘I don’t think you should try to get other pros sent off, just because he’s had a poor game and Spurs were having a poor game. He shouldn’t take it out on us.’

Video footage of Warnock shouting at Kane clearly showed he had called him a ‘t***’ but Warnock laughed this off: ‘I wouldn’t say that, it’d be twit, wouldn’t it?’

Kane was booked for shoving Ralls. ‘He went straight in and pushed him,’ Warnock said.

‘Why not give him a red? I think [Dean] went for his yellow pocket. All afternoon there’s been busy people around him. He said it was a group decision.

‘The experienced linesman down that side, Darren [Cann]… had a poor afternoon and it wouldn’t surprise me if he didn’t contribute to that [decision.]

‘[Dean] got influenced. I think Mike Dean doesn’t need influencing. He’s a top referee. I think he should’ve

gone with his instinct, like he was going to do and gone with a yellow card. I don’t think it helped being surrounded by 15 white shirts. I thought it was a very soft one to say the least.

‘He said violent conduct. I don’t see it being violent conduct. I think it was cynical.’

Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino said he thought Ralls should have been dismissed. ‘Where I was in that moment it was off, red card,’ he observed.
