Duke’s hug for Jack

-

THE Duke of York stunned guests at the wedding breakfast by breaking Royal protocol to give his son-in-law a huge hug.

While praising Jack Brooksbank in his speech to 800 guests, Andrew said: ‘I am going to break York house rules now.’ He then walked over to his son-in-law and embraced him.

‘It was right in front of everyone, even the Queen,’ said Jack’s headmaster at Stowe School, Dr Anthony Wallersteiner. ‘It was a lovely human moment.’

He added: ‘The Duke gave a lovely tribute to Eugenie. He said how she was quite strong-willed. He also gave a tribute to Jack. There was a real connection between father and son-in-law.

‘He told a funny joke about how his Highland Terrier called Jack sat on a chair and he yelled at him, “Jack, get off the chair.” The dog just sat there – but Jack Brooksbank was in the room and he jumped up immediately.’

Mr Wallersteiner’s wife Valerie added: ‘It was all very modern and unstuffy. They cut through all the trappings.’
