CASH IN THE ATTIC

- By Toby Walne

EVERY week TOBY WALNE gives the low-down on the value of forgotten treasures that may be gathering dust in your attic. THE 13th Doctor Who has arrived on our TV screens – and Jodie Whittaker, the first female incarnation, has gone down a storm with viewers.

Her performance is also expected to increase interest in Doctor Who collectables.

Find one of a handful of Dalek playsuits, for example, made by Scorpion Automotives that survived a 1964 fire and you’re £5,000 better off. A 1965 Dalek by Cowan de Groot, below, that sold for 16 shillings and 5 old pence (82p) when new can now fetch £800.

A 1964 edition of The Dalek Book, The Dalek World (1965) or The Dalek Outer Space Book (1966) can each sell for £100 if in good condition.

The big money is in original props. A 1966 Dalek sold for £38,000 in 2016. A Cyber-man suit used on set in the 1980s sold for £9,600 in 2010.
