Charlotte Riley, wife of brooding Tom Hardy, admits she’s obsessed with... Paul O’Grady
SHE is married to Hollywood tough guy Tom Hardy, but actress Charlotte Riley has confessed to being obsessed with Lily Savage drag queen star-turned-TV presenter Paul O’Grady.
Ms Riley, 36, who starred in Wuthering Heights, Peaky Blinders and Press, admits to feeling pangs of jealousy when her husband met O’Grady at Battersea Dogs Home.
Both Hardy and O’Grady share a love of rescue dogs and it was this mutual affection that brought them together, much to Charlotte’s chagrin.
In an interview with You magazine, she says: ‘I was very cross when Tom got to meet Paul O’Grady at Battersea Dogs Home and I didn’t. That caused a rift for a little while. I’ve read all his biographies and I’m slightly obsessed by him. I need to meet him.’
Despite her husband gaining 3.7 million Instagram followers, Ms Riley admits she had no idea of the existence of his account until recently. It features snaps of Hardy with dogs and on movie sets. She said: ‘I didn’t know he had an Instagram account until about three weeks ago.
‘He’s always been a bit of a Dr Dolittle. There are numerous friends and family who now have dogs, that didn’t know they wanted one until Tom happened to find a dog that didn’t have a home. Even when we get a dog that’s intended to be mine, it always loves him more than me.’
Ms Riley also says there is further to go in the fight for female equality in her industry. She said: ‘You can’t just dress like men and suddenly it’s equal. Female remakes of male-dominated films just don’t do it for me.
‘Why can’t we just make an entirely new film that has amazing women in it?’ Read the full interview in You magazine
