THE LATE SHOW

Leaders Norwich snatch it again but boss Farke was never worried

- By Derek Davies

DANIEL FARKE is loving the dramas at Carrow Road and his young side’s ability to snatch late wins.

Norwich looked comfortable when Mario Vrancic and Marco Stiepermann gave them a two-goal cushion against struggling Bolton.

But a shoddy attitude almost proved costly as Bolton hit back through Sammy Ameobi and Mark Beevers.

A winner, four minutes into time added on, from Teemi Pukki secured victory and kept Norwich top.

Norwich had clinched another late win against Millwall last month.

‘Normally you might be concerned but not with the story of this game,’ insisted Farke. ‘Bolton put us under pressure with long balls and throws and won the second ball.

‘But I’m totally at peace with this because this is such a young side and we can speak about this later and learn from it.

‘A lot of top teams might have been happy to settle for a point but we showed character once more.’

Bolton boss Phil Parkinson said: ‘ We implemented our game plan well. I always felt we’d score. We saw Millwall and Rotherham come here and score. I should be sat here talking about the point we gained.’ Bolton had survived a blitz before conceding twice. Stiepermann’s mazy run ended with a shot well saved by Ben Alnwick, with Andrew Taylor blocking Max Aarons’ followup. Skipper Alex Tettey nodded past a post from a corner, Todd Cantwell and Vrancic curled wide, and Stiepermann also had a shot saved.

Bolton cracked when Vrancic floated into space and fired in a low 20-yard shot in the 39th minute.

Attack-minded right-back Aarons had time and space to play in the unmarked Vrancic.

Bolton’s problems were there for all to see as they defended deep but could not stop the shots raining in.

Experienced centre- half Timm Klose had been forced out during the warm-up with injury and Ben Godfrey made his first league start for the Canaries.

Bolton’s Jason Lowe hit a powerful drive from 25 yards which Tim Krul could not hold but the ball rebounded to safety. Will Buckley was played through by but he was put off enough by Chris Zimmermann to hit wide.

Norwich’s second was initiated on the left by another bright young thing, Jamal Lewis. The ball went across for Stiepermann to sweep in.

Then Ameobi drifted in from the left to tuck away a loose ball, before being sent off in time added on for a second yellow.

Beevers took advantage of slack defending to knock in from six yards and suddenly it was 2-2.

Pukki was not to be denied his 12th goal of the season as he arrived with perfect timing to clinch victory for Norwich.
