Sidelined Pulisic eyes exit already

-

CHRISTIAN PULISIC is ready to consider his Chelsea future in January if he continues to be left out of the side by Frank Lampard.

The 21-year-old has been an unused substitute for the last three Premier League games before being omitted from the squad entirely for the Champions League win at Lille.

Pulisic joined Chelsea in a £58million move from Borussia Dortmund this summer and immediately impressed in the Uefa Super Cup with an assist in the defeat by Liverpool before starting three of the first four Premier League games.

Yet despite setting up another goal in the Carabao Cup thrashing of Grimsby, he has not featured in the league since August.

Pulisic has admitted his frustration after being overlooked by Lampard in favour of Willian and Pedro as well as fellow youngsters Mason Mount and Callum Hudson-Odoi as the Chelsea boss continues to put his faith in the club’s exciting young English talent.

The Mail on Sunday understands that Pulisic wants to stay and fight for his place under Lampard but will consider his options if he feels he is not being given a fair chance to prove himself.

Lampard has said that Pulisic needs to work harder in training to prove he deserves to feature.

‘I spoke to him two days before the Grimsby game and was very clear about the standards and we have to give him the fact that he’s moved country and moved leagues,’ said Lampard.

‘He’s as young as all the young players we keep talking about. He’s just turned 21.

‘So I think everyone, if anyone is getting too excited about this they should calm down because he’s started five games for us.

‘What he needs to do is work, work daily, work to show within the group that he deserves to play.

‘As all the players do. That’s what the focus on everyone is.’
