NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM: SECRET OF THE TOMB Sunday, Channel 4, 5.35pm
Set in a fictionalised version of the British Museum, this is the final instalment in the comedy trilogy about museum exhibits brought to life by the magical power of an artefact from ancient Egypt. Gloriously daft fun starring Ben Stiller and the late Robin Williams in one of his final roles.
THE KING’S SPEECH Sunday, BBC1, 10.30pm
Flawless feelgood drama about George VI’s battle to overcome a crippling stammer so that his wireless broadcasts can rally a nation at war. Colin Firth (below) is the reluctant monarch who grows into the role. Geoffrey Rush plays his unconventional speech therapist.
THE LADYKILLERS Monday, Film4, 3.05pm
Classic Ealing black comedy. A sweet old lady becomes unwittingly involved in a robbery carried out by a gang of criminals who decide they will have to kill her. The screenwriter claimed the entire plot came to him in a dream. Stars Alec Guinness and Katie Johnson (both pictured, above right).
ROXANNE Tuesday, Sony Movies Classic, 6.50pm
Romcom retelling of the Cyrano de Bergerac story. Steve Martin is a charismatic fire chief with a super-sized schnozz. He’s in love with Daryl Hannah’s Roxanne but she seems uninterested in him. Selflessly, he gives courting advice to the dimwitted fireman she thinks she likes.
NOWHERE BOY Wednesday, Film4, 11.10pm
Sam Taylor-Wood directed this John Lennon biopic. It focuses on his adolescence, when he was living with his Aunt Mimi (Kristin Scott Thomas) and also reconnecting with his mother, Julia (Anne-Marie Duff), from whom he’d been separated as a child. Aaron Johnson plays Lennon.
A BOY CALLED SAILBOAT Thursday, Sky Cinema Premiere, 3.30pm
When a little boy from a poor Hispanic family in New Mexico finds a ukulele, he teaches himself to play it and writes a song so beautiful that it changes lives (although the viewers never get to hear it). Sweet, offbeat fable.
THE HUNGER GAMES Thursday, 5Star, 9pm
In a dystopian future, adolescent representatives of 12 poor districts are forced by the totalitarian government to take part in a televised fight to the death. This established Jennifer Lawrence as a global star.
DANCES WITH WOLVES Friday, Sony Movies, 4.55pm
A decorated army officer befriends a village of Sioux Native Americans. Kevin Costner directed and starred in this three-hour love letter to the landscape of the Western Frontier. It won seven Oscars.
